Open Call - Meet the Locals 2026
Fronteer Gallery | Deadline for submissions - 08/12/25
Fronteer are looking for artwork to be part of our Meet the Locals exhibition. We hold an exhibition of work by artists local to South Yorkshire and the surrounding area at the start of each year. It gives us the opportunity to show amazing local artwork, and is the only exhibition of the year which is exclusively for local artists.
Artists from across from South Yorkshire and the surrounding counties are welcome to submit work. This includes Derbyshire, Nottinghamshire, Yorkshire and anywhere else that you might consider to be local. We also welcome work by artists who consider themselves to have local links, e.g. you are from Sheffield originally but have moved away.
Work can be in any medium, except audio or video works, and wall mounted work can be any size or shape, but should take up no more than 70x70cm of wall space.
Sculptural work should fit on a 30x30cm plinth, and should not exceed 50cm height x 30cm x 30cm.
Artists are invited to submit 1 piece of work for the exhibition. You may provide a short description of no more than 150 words which will be displayed alongside the work.

About Our Exhibition Opportunities:
As a not-for-profit organisation, and as artists ourselves, we make every effort to make our opportunities as affordable as possible while also being sustainable. As such, successful artists to our open-call shows will be expected to pay a small fee, which is outlined in each open call. This fee will go towards our gallery rent, power and invigilation costs as well as the creation and distribution of any promotional material. In return we don't charge commission for sales, less a 10-20% fee for bank and admin charges (depending on the exhibition). We also don't charge any artists that are unsuccessful, meaning that all our opportunities are free at the point of entry.
